Business Showcase Preparations

I'm in full swing preparations for the business showcase I'm doing on Sunday. Here are a few examples of what will be in my display:

Ok - I must say I LOVE THIS CARD! I got the idea from a blog or a yahoo group, or somewhere, someone made a card using the color with the fairy and I said "ooooohhh, I MUST try that!" That color with the fairy - that paper is white cardstock that I inked. *taking a bow* Watch out... this could be the technique du jour for me!

Spring Fever

As you know, I am a rubber stamping goddess! The Angel Company just released it's Spring Supplement catalog. Here's a taste of what's in the Spring Supplement - of course I want them all.....

Think of the coasters I could make with these:

This set just makes me think of my mom and friend Jen - always in their gardens!

Camping - could make some fantastic scrapbook pages!

So many stamps.... creativity abounds!

Welcome To My Stamping Cave

When we were in the market for our home, I had on my “needs” list a craft room. The woman that owned our home did Creative Memories – so she had a craft room set up in the basement. I have since done some alterations to shelving, and have added pegboard; but I am so grateful that our house came fully equipped!

A few of you have been asking about my storage in my stamping room. So here we go…..

I have an L shaped counter / workspace. When I am sitting in my primary creating position, and look up, this is what I see:

Everything I can reach from a sitting position. I just love the pegboard. I can see my tools, and they are always at hand, literally! Also - note the power strip I had Adam install for me. Great for plugging in the portable DVD player, lights, heat tools, etc....

Above my tools pegboard is the shelf where I keep my sharpies, ribbon dispensers, etc. (I hung the spice rack turned embellishment dispenser to the left)

To my immediate right are my paper storage, and floor to ceiling pegboard with all of my wood mounted stamps:

The floor to ceiling pegboard is 6 rows by 5 columns. Each peg can hold about 6 or 7 stamp sets. I just love this storage system! (thanks Michele)

To my left:

My inspiration wall, and un-mounted stamps in CD cases:

Closet (I do want to rip out the current shelving and take advantage of every inch of space by installing a custom closet):

So there you have it.... Alison's Stamping Cave!

Proof / Gratitude Journaling

I read Law of Attraction by Michael Losier last Tuesday night. In his book he recommends to keep a log of the “proof” of the Law of Attraction in my life.

In the past, I’ve started gratitude journals, dream journals, and so on. So, last Tuesday I started my Proof Journal. And you know something; I’ve got a lot of proof to record on a daily basis. Each day that I am recording my proof, the list is longer than the previous day. Also I just can’t help recording the things I’m grateful for at the same time.

Isn’t that interesting? Isn’t that proof in of itself: that I am allowing more to come into my life because I am conscious of the good in my life already, I am grateful, and therefore that energy is expanding – only to attract more good?

This is really fun! I’m finding that I’m on the lookout for proof during my day, whereas before I started this practice I’m sure the proof was there but I just wasn’t consciously acknowledging it. Now, I see that I am surrounded by love & support, and I have been filled to new levels of gratitude!

I invite you to play with this concept, and do the same. Let me know what happens – I love to celebrate with people!

Peace & Blessings!

Biff's Question Song

What it's like to live with a Nuclear Engineer

Top quirks about living with a husband who is an ex Navy Nuke, a Nuclear Engineer – and designs and builds his own Rubik’s style puzzles:

  • I’m slowly learning all the lines to every Star Wars movie.
  • I “get” Star Wars humor (and Lord of the Rings)
  • It’s usually a good idea to play Marco Polo in the house! (He’s stealthily quiet so I never know where he is)
  • Making a burger – is NEVER just making a burger. First he has to do a rough sketch, design it on a CAD program, double check his equations, print it, have me sign off approval… then commence the build process.
  • I walk around and scramble a bunch of the many Rubik’s style twisty puzzles, just to watch him HAVE to solve all of them.
  • He’s a camel. He can sit in front of the TV with his laptop for over 8 hours without moving (seriously! – even while drinking lots of soda… I’m talking no bathroom breaks, no food, nothing.)
  • He actually knows what HTTP means. (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol)
  • While acquiring his degree in Nuclear Engineering & Engineering Physics – he bought a slide ruler because it would be fun to use.
  • We have 4 computers (remember it’s just Adam, myself, and the 2 cats that live here). 2 are in working condition.
  • He always finds the simplest solution to any problem. (a friend was visiting and was saying “how am I going to remember XYZ & ABC & MNOP?” Adam responded, dryly, “Write it down.”)
  • His dry humor has rubbed off on me.
  • I’ve learned to love that when you have the right tools, any job is fun.
  • I’ve seen every episode of “How It’s Made”, “Myth-Busters”, and “Numbers”.
  • One word: Legos!

I love my husband! He ROCKS! He laughed when I presented him with this list – and hopefully he will write a list about being married to a Rubber Stamper, Intuitive Life Coach, and Voice Over Artist that I can post later.

Ok, I've seen this online in a few places - only to be deleted in under 24 hours. This evening, you can download the Oprah Episode with The Secret HERE. Good luck - I don't know how long it will be available.

Also – tomorrow Oprah is doing a show on people’s reaction to the Secret show from last week.

AND - Oprah After The Show on The Oxygen Network this weekend. The camera's kept rolling when the show was over, and you can watch it all on Saturday, Feb. 17th. (11am pacific, 12pm mountain, 1pm central, 2pm eastern) - can you tell I copied and pasted this?

Happy Valentine's Day!

Yesterday I got home from work, and Adam wasn’t home. Hhhmmm, strange. I was be-bopping around the house when I got a very clear intuitive hit “go to the garage”. What? Ok. So, I open the door from the breezeway to the garage, and there’s Adam stashing ice cream in the upright freezer. (Mind you – we had PLENTY of space in the kitchen’s freezer.)

I say, “What are you doing?” And Adam turns around, and I *think*, not quite sure, that he actually stomped his foot and said “AAAAHHHHH! Sometimes you being intuitive ruins EVERYTHING!!!! I was going to surprise you tomorrow for Valentine’s Day!”

How sweet is he? He baked for me. Adam made me chocolate lava muffins, and got the ice cream to go with them! These muffins are some serious chocolate: chocolate muffins, with a chocolate lava core – when you cut into them the lava spills out: mmmmmmmmm, wicked YUMMY!

Also – today we had a major snow storm. I’m not sure how much snow we’ve received as it’s windy and the snow is blowing everywhere. I would say that we easily have 2 feet, but can’t tell for sure. That’s me suited up to go outside and work on snow removal. I made the hat and scarf.

Oh ya – and what did I do for my hubby: home-made mac & cheese…..

Cleaning can wait, creativity can’t!

I have a confession. I am a creativity addict. Today I had plans to clean the house. It’s now after 3 PM and have I cleaned? No. Isn’t that the first sign that you have a problem when your craving gets in the way with life stuff; or something like that?

I read stamping blogs on a regular basis, as they are fantastic sources of inspiration, and new techniques. Lately I’ve seen CD case calendars, and have wanted to make one for myself. Today, on a fellow stamper’s blog, she posted an excel file with the actual calendar. Inspiration struck, and I’ve been in my stamping room, creating…. Not cleaning. Vacuuming can wait; creativity can’t.

So….. what do you think of my calendar?

On a completely different topic:

Last night I was reading the book The Secret by Rhonda Byrne (yes, like the movie) and the last line in the book got me laughing: “May the joy be with you.” Of course, being married to Adam I am fast learning most of the lines to all the Star Wars movies. Couple that with being really tired, a bit slap happy, and we went overboard with: “May the Joy be with you….. The Joy is strong in this one….” Yep, just replace “Force” with “Joy” and you can give all new meaning to Star Wars.

It's all in the details

Check out this new card!

Did you notice how the ribbon is nested? Look closely – for my stamping friends, I used the SU tag punch. If you just use the top edge of the punch, you create an indent that is a perfect size for the ribbon to fit – nice and snug.

Make sure you watch Oprah today…

The Secret To You

I get chills every time I view this!

The Secret - 7 minute clip

Gladys Hardy on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

You Tube Video

You know me: I LOVE TO LAUGH! A friend of mine sent me this You Tube video, and, seriously, it’s worth watching! It’s almost 7 minutes long, but by minute 4 I was howling with insane laughter! Tears streaming, abs hurting, can’t breathe type of laughter. Life is good.

Here’s the link (or see above):

Enjoy!

And how cute is this coaster:

By the way – The Secret is being featured on Oprah this Thursday.
