Whoops

I’ve decided to share my mistakes on my first attempt at a Double Slider Card.

I was making this for my mom because she’s the force behind my gardens. In fact, she probably did 95% of the work in putting them together.

Where did I go wrong?

The back slider I did with clouds, thank you, and gorgeous flowers. When the ribbon is pulled, all you see are clouds and thank you.

The slider that’s hidden behind the sassy gardener, again, I did with gorgeous flowers. And when the slider is pulled, all you see are the tip tops of the flowers.

Whoops.

I’ve figured out where I went wrong, so stay tuned for my next attempt at a double slider card.

Stamping Pictures!

Considering I started this blog as a stamping blog - I have been remiss in my duties of sharing with all of my stamping friends my creations!

Adam loves this card.... I think I'm going to have to copy myself and make all different color combos with it.

You can't tell by the photo, but I did the salted background technique.
How?
Glossy Cardstock, reinkers, water spray bottle, salt.
Paint reinker onto glossy cardstock (I only did purple, but using multi colors looks FABULOUS)
spritz glossy cardstock with water
sprinkle with salt
allow to dry
brush off salt

I belong to a group of demonstrators for The Angel Company called TAG. We randomly pick names from the group and send out TAGs to each other (card fronts, tags, whatever). It's soooooo fun because every time I go to my Post Office Box, I have at least 1 TAG, usually more. These pictures are just a sampling of what I've received.

Baby Giggles

I had a fun experience in a Target checkout line tonight:

There was a woman in line in front of me with a baby that appeared to be about 10-12 months old. She was holding a sippy cup for him, while trying to unload her cart’s contents onto the belt. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Needless to say, the cup slides out of baby’s mouth, and a scream started to build. You know those screams that start from the baby’s toes and builds up through their body until it’s released through the mouth. Those screams that you think your ear drums are going to split if you are within a mile of it.

So, the scream made it to the lips of baby – when – baby locks eyes with me – and I smile the biggest, most joyful smile I could muster. The scream turned into giggles! The baby just looked at me and giggled while Mom could unload her cart and completely checkout. ROCK ON!!!!!

I love this because – yes, there’s always a lesson – I’ve been conscious of maintaining my state of being no matter what others are doing around me. I’ve been playing with the concept that either I shift to match other’s moods, or if I maintain my mood – others shift to match my mood. It’s great when I’m in a good mood, and I don’t allow someone in a bad mood to bring me to them.

Baby matched me – I didn’t match baby, or allow myself to go into a negative state about a screaming baby in Target. ROCK ON!!!!!

Pictures I Promised

It is still overcast this morning, but I took a photo of the Deck Garden:

This is about a 3" moth I discovered while taking the above picture. I've never seen one like this. Does anyone know what kind it is?

MY PARENTS ROCK!!!!!!!

My parents visited for the weekend. Why do they rock? I’ll tell you:

Mom and I went shopping (2 women that dislike shopping) – but we went with a purpose. She hooked me up with plants, potting soil, pots, and chocolate – not to mention the in depth conversations we had in the car together!

Dad and Adam cut down birch trees that were done in by the ice storm. That was a huge project.

I woke up, looked out the window and saw my mother cleaning up the sugar snap pea bed, and planting the peas for this season.

We all played a part in planting veggies, herbs, and a couple of flowers. I’m branching into flowers this year… wish me luck. Last year was our first summer in this house, and because of our HUGE deer, rabbit, and other animal population, I did a lot of container gardening on the deck. I am doing the same this year. Right now it is pouring rain, otherwise I would have taken a picture for you. I will soon… promise.

I’ve got zucchini, broccoli, spinach, lettuce, sunflowers, lavender, thyme, basil, rosemary, sugar snap peas, tarragon, cilantro, and flowers going on! I’m sure I haven’t listed everything because my deck is loaded with pots!

I played Ticket To Ride with Dad. He beat me this trip - 2 out of 3 games.

So, that’s why my parents rock! They show up and my house is always more beautiful than it was before they came. They help us out with projects. They are also some of the easiest overnight guests EVER! (As in, we don't blink an eyelash is they want to stay longer, and this weekend we were disappointed they had to leave so soon) Sweeeeeeeeeeeet.

Peace & Blessings!

Our trip to the DMV

Today we did the new car dance:

Obtaining proof of insurance
Car inspection
Go to the DMV to turn in our old plates, and register the new car.

The young lady that helped us at the DMV was AMAZING! I’ve never before had a pleasurable experience at the DMV. Today, I had fun at the DMV. Actually, with some of the news she gave us, I happy danced at the DMV. Full on, HAPPY DANCE! Of course, I’m sure people that were waiting probably thought I was off my rocker – but even so, I got to do a genuine happy dance at the DMV.

I felt compelled to share.

The Honda

Adam was in a car accident two weeks ago. Adam is fine – not a scratch on him. Today, we are mailing in the keys & title to the insurance company because they have deemed the car “totaled”. The car, well, the car lost it’s bumpers… among other things.

The sad part about all of this is Adam got that car right after we met each other 9 years ago. (Is that possible? We’ve known each other for 9 years; will be married 7 years this summer?) We dated in that car. We drove from San Diego to Oregon to get married in that car. We drove from Oregon to Maine in that car. That car holds the physical memory of our entire relationship together.

We always referred to Adam’s car as “The Honda”. When I got a Honda CR-V last year, we still referred to his car as “The Honda”. Today is a sad day. The Honda is no longer. It was so official last night when I pulled the title, and sealed it into the envelop State Farm sent us.

The happy part is we have found a great car to replace The Honda. But still, we will miss The Honda.

Are You Ready for Mother’s Day?

I’m bursting to post the Mother’s Day gifts I made this year – but I can’t - yet. The three recipients read this blog – so I’ll post the photos on Sunday. All I can say is this year the gifts were a joint effort between Adam and myself.

Super Busy

I haven’t posted in a week – if that’s any indication of how busy I’ve been!

I have a few new & glorious things happening in my life:

I’m teaching a dance class – starts tomorrow night! YIPPIE!!!!!! I am just so excited!

The Angel Company came out with the list of stamps that are retiring May 31st, because the new catalog is coming out in June! This is bittersweet, because I’m sad to see some of the stamps go, but I’m excited because… well… 2 words: NEW CATALOG!

We’ve been experiencing Deer Invasion lately. Around dusk, deer just pour into our yard to feed of the new, fresh, gloriously green grass. Can we say: YAY SPRING!

All in all, life is good!

Peace & Blesings!
