WOW! What an intense 48 hours I've just had!
Michele, you know, the FAMOUS Michele, called me at work on Tuesday. She NEVER calls me at work.
Her tone was serious, and she said "I'm sorry to call you at work, but this is really serious, so, it couldn't wait...."
All I could think was someone was in the hospital, accident, something horrible.
Then she tells me "We had a snow day today, and I called Best Buy, and they got a shipment of Nintendo Wii's in, and there was 1 left, so I drove to Best Buy in my PJ's and got the last one."
I was speechless.
If you know me personally, yes, you read that right:
I was speechless (I even have Sheila as a witness)
I was, and still am, just BLOWN AWAY by Michele! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
She shipped me a Wii from Cincinnati.
Let me back up a tad:
Over Christmas, in Cincinnati, at Michele's house, Adam and I played the Wii with her family for 3 days, and we've never had more fun! (Including our trip to Disney - seriously, playing with Wii with Michele's family was Soooooooooooooooo fun!)
Adam then wanted a Wii (and so did I) - but, they were sold out everywhere. For Adam's birthday I sent out an e-mail to family and friends saying something like "If you are choosing to acknowledge Adam on his birthday, he really wants a Wii, so I have started a Wii fund for him..." Thanks to our amazing family and friends, I was able to surprise Adam with the funds for a Wii, accessories, and games. But - still - no Wii's to be found anywhere (except Ebay for way over price... I think NOT!)
(oh, and the very best part: I said to Michele on the phone Monday night "I really wish I could find a Wii for Adam, for Valentine's Day")
Ok, back to my story:
At this point, I was literally shaking with excitement - Adam has been talking about the Wii since Christmas, and really, really, really, really, really, really wants one! I had 48 hours of keeping this a secret... riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
Tuesday evening, guess what Adam wants to talk about: Wii. Seriously. I just can't make this up!
Wednesday morning, we wake up to our alarms, and Adam says "I really wish we could get a Wii soon" (thankfully I was facing away from him, and the room was dark, because I almost snorted boogers out my nose trying not to convulse with laughter)
Wednesday evening: I made my mother-in-law's birthday gift, so I was able to make myself scarce around Adam.
Oh, and Tuesday & Wednesday I kept telling Adam "I have a HUGE surprise for you for Valentine's day. I'm not going to cook our usual Valentine's Day dinner, I have a really cool food surprise planned" - and let me tell you, I milked that for all it was worth. I really was able to channel my excitement about the Wii to Adam, buy saying it was a food surprise.
Thursday morning: We barely crossed paths, so once he left for work, I was home free!
After work, I hit the grocery store. Adam LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVES corn dogs. So, I figured, now that the Wii has arrived, he's not going to want to do a sit down dinner, so corn dogs, ice cream, chips, soda, snacks - he's gonna love me!
As I was checking out, the clerk and the boy bagging were talking about Valentine's Day, and how neither had a significant other and they just wanted chocolate, or flowers, or whatever. So I say "This, yeah, this is all for my husband. A friend found us a Wii, and I'm giving it to him tonight, so I also got all his favorite snack food to go with it"
The boy bagging looks at me, and in slow motion says "Dude.... I wish I had a girlfriend like YOU"
HILARIOUS!
Once home, I did my "Left to Right" (Michele uses that phrase regarding cleaning the house - and I've adopted it) because I know there would be no Left To Right this weekend! I also bought cookie dough to bake - so Adam would smell things cooking when he got home, even if I technically wasn't cooking. And for the extra touch; I got out our chefs pan, filled it with water and mexican herbs and spices, brought it to a boil, then turned down to a simmer, so again it looked like I was cooking, but really... not so much!
Adam came home, and I whisked him into the bedroom, so he could unload his cell phone, wallet, keys, etc. I told him to wait until I called, and I ran out and got the Wii on the table. And called him – camera in hand.
What was Adam’s reaction:
He couldn’t believe his eyes.
He looked at me with shock and awe, “How long have you had this?”
I told him there was a long story behind that and he says “You know, when you bought me a microwave for Valentine’s Day when we were dating, I knew you were a keeper”
Before I told him the Michele story, and everything, I said, “oh, by the way, I didn’t cook for you, I got corn dogs”
He, again, was awed, and THRILLED! So, as we heated the corn dogs, I explained the story. Adam couldn’t have been happier, and I had SO MUCH FUN pulling off the surprise!
We played for about 4.5 hours last night (the Wii keeps track of your play time)
We Love the Wii!
THANK YOU MICHELE!!!!
Peace & Blessings!
PS - We played Wii Sports and Lego Star Wars (watch a video for it here) - both super fun!PPS - Check out the Wii Fit; it's not available in the US yet, but still seriously cool!
